Been a bit busy

Haven't posted much due to the mad crocheting rush of needing to get done before Christmas! Last year it was so bad that I literally didn't get my last afghan done till 3 am Christmas morning. So this year I am going to try to get it done before that. The worst part of all of it is that I can't post any pics until Christmas so my family won't see what I made them lol! This part kinda sux! I have so many pics I can't wait to put up!

I am very lucky to have family that love homemade things for gifts. Makes it so much more easier on me because I am horrible when it comes to shopping, I really hate shopping its just too stressful! Specially this time of the year!

Grandson is doing very well, he has so many different facial expressions just cracks me up! I got to watch him for a few hours on Monday, I was holding his bottle and he was holding onto me,he wrapped all 5 of those tiny fingers around my pinky. Darn near about made me cry! What a love!! Well this is it for my rambling thoughts. =)

Today!

Today we got to hold our grandson for the very first time! He is absolutely adorable, and we couldn't of been more blessed! He will be 2 weeks old Dec. 2.....its amazing how much progress this little guy has made over the course of two weeks. He was born a preemie and weighs a little over five pounds. I have never held a baby that small before. This little guy has a huge family and so many that love him, he's gonna be so spoiled, but in a good way! What a blessing he and his parents are.

Best Christmas present EVER! Welcome home little man we love you!

Our very first Grandson is here!!!

Our Grandson Owen has made his appearance a bit early! Just like his daddy always in a hurry! He was born 11/18/13 and weighs 5.53 lbs. he wasn't due till Dec. 17. So far he is doing very well, he does have difficulty with breathing but they were able to take the ventilator off today, he is still on a cpap machine to help with the breathing. He has already tried to push himself up on all fours. The doctor says he is a day ahead. One of the hardest things right now is not being able to hold him, I know that the time will soon come but waiting is just a pain!

Anyway here is a pic of our lil miracle grandson with our son Cody.......

Crocheted Stuffs for our grandson

Finally got through the baby shower now I can post pics of everything I have made for our grandson who is due in Dec. Yesterday was an awesome day for our family not only are we getting a grandson we are also getting a daughter. My son surprised her with an engagement ring, and dropped down to one knee. We are so very blessed to be getting such an awesome daughter and are very happy for them both. The hardest part was knowing he was going to propose and not say anything and at the same time I am so glad he told me because I would of been a blubbering mess for sure! I admit I did cry a bit but not as much as I probably would of have if I hadn't known!

On the hats I just used a basic beanie pattern and some just attached earflaps, the diaper covers I used flowers creations pattern and here is the link http://flowerscreations.blogspot.com/2012/05/free-diaper-cover-pattern.html, on the dinosaur hat I used this pattern http://snovej.com/archives/crochet-pattern-babys-dino-hat-with-cape, for the batman hat I crocheted an oval and used Louies Loops batman symbol pattern http://www.louiesloops.com/2012/07/holy-free-pattern-batman.html (for some reason I had some difficulty with this pattern but thankfully he did provide a video tutorial on youtube, I also used his mustache pattern for the mustache hat as we all know its all about the mustache lol http://www.louiesloops.com/2011/09/i-mustache-you-question.html, the Santa hat I used was a Drops pattern this worked up fast!  http://www.garnstudio.com/lang/us/pattern.php?id=5340&lang=us#pattern_content

The minion hat hat is once again a basic beanie with double crochet, I put a row of black on the 5th row for the eye strap thing, the eye ball I just winged it, sorry no pattern I just didn't find a pattern I liked as most patterns didn't have the brown in the eye like in the movie, stitched on the half smile and the last row was worked in blue......

Last but not least the owl hat! I used this video I found on youtube my only suggestion is to pin down the eyes and nose, but sew the nose on first lol, I had a bit of a problem with the eyes moving so I had to tack the nose down the best I could. Awesome hat though! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vAYSltApxLs

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who had made these patterns! I thoroughly enjoyed making them for my first grandson! =)

My first slouch hat

My sister had some major dental work done and was just feeling miserable. I had wanted to make her something to kinda bring her up a bit, so while browsing the net I found this awesome pattern for a slouch hat, here's the link to the pattern  http://meladorascreations-com.webs.com/butterlystslouchhat.htm while looking through her great site I found another pattern for a scarf called granny tears, this works up fast I just love it.  Here is the pattern for the scarf I used http://meladorascreations-com.webs.com/grannytearsscarf.htm . She also has videos, which I am always so grateful for, as I am a visual learner. Once I see it done I can pretty much follow the pattern. When I first started to learn how to crochet I learned from reading charts and to me that was just easier then trying to decipher written patterns.....Then I discovered youtube videos, thats pretty much where I live now lol.

My sister will probably kick my butt for putting her pic up on here, as her cheeks are still swollen, but I don't have one of those mannequin head things to use. The joys of being my sister lol.... anyway here is a couple of pics of how it turned out.

Ruffled scarves!

I have made and sold so many of these. I have to admit I am personally not a huge fan of them. I'm not a girly girl lol.....but they are so popular might as well go with it! Here is just a few pics of the ones I have completed I won't post all that I have made as that would just take forever lol....

My top hat!!

So like everyone else I just had to make one of red hearts top hats! Here's a link to the pattern http://www.redheart.com/free-patterns/halloween-top-hat . I just love this, it was a very fun project, it was kind of like reading a good book, once you got started you just couldn't put it down! Anyway here is a pic of mine, not to shabby first time out! The possibilities on this hat is just endless!

Crocheting like a mad woman!

I have been so busy with crocheting, its been hectic! I eventually want to set up my own fb page but right now time has not been on my side. I find it kind hysterical that when I do attempt to do something all heck breaks out. I have been mia for a bit, the first week in Oct. our laptop bit the bullet, the brakes and rotor went out on our car, then our microwave lost its brains. Who has that kind of luck! I do!!!

I have been crocheting like a mad woman lately, this week its been total madness, I have my aunties table cloth I am trying to repair (keyword trying) its very old and I hope I don't mess up. I have a difficult with thread crochet as I have OA real bad and its hard to hold that thing string. I am gonna do the best I can though as this table cloth has a lot of meaning to my aunt, her mom crocheted it for her.... here is a pic of my challenge though.

Looks like I am going to have to try to replace a couple of the motifs as they are just totally shot. I love a good challenge lol!!!

Puff stitch hat

This was a new stitch for me to learn, and suprisingly it was very easy and a fast project to get done. I didn't however put a flower on it yet, not sure I want to lol.....I found this pattern on youtube, I am a visual learner. Only thing is I cant remember who's video it was and for that I do apologize for I like to give credit where credit is due. There are several videos on youtube though for this pattern.

My first Hexagon Granny

This pattern works up so fast, it was a lot of fun to make. The pattern is from the lion brand website and here is the direct link to the pattern (you may need to register or sign in to view the pattern) lots of great patterns on this website!  http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/L20119.html?noImages=

I just used some scrap yarn for this project. I have yet to use the colors that any pattern uses in anything I make.

Baby blanket

This is the very first time I worked with Bernat Baby Blanket yarn, and let me tell you it is some very soft thick yarn. So much so I wasnt sure what kind of pattern to use for this blanket, because it would be hard to see the stitches. I went with a granny square. I have to admit, while making this blanket I didn't realize how much I wanted grandchildren. I made this before we knew we are going to have a grandson. This was commissioned by a dear friend of ours, was also the very first thing I ever sold!

I would love to know what other patterns this could be used with. I just dont know other then the granny or maybe a shell pattern what else I could see the stitches with.

Down for a few days

I haven't been able to post the last couple of days. I have somehow manage to mess up knee. Not sure how that happened, but I have mad skills like that. Its funny, Im supposed to stay off my feet, keep it propped up...ya that isn't gonna happen anytime soon. It hurts to bad to elevate my leg and I cant sit still long enough because of my back issues......so its a lose ~ lose type situation!

Ok enough of that~ Today I am posting a pic of the Christmas stockings I made for the kids. Granted my kids are all grown I thought they were just to neat of an idea, I had to make them! Great way to upcycle denim jeans.

The afghan I made for some friends of ours

This afghan was made for some pretty special friends of ours. Very glad that we have them in our lives. This pattern is the same as Cody and Jacobs. I really love how easy it is to put together, great project if you need something fast and pretty.

Codys Afghan

I made this one for Cody for Christmas. He is a KU fan so I chose those colors, although we are a house divided when it comes to sports teams this was a labor of love lol. When I went to walmart to buy the yarn, I had found a KU shot glass so I took it back to the yarn section with me and started holding it up next to the yarn to match the colors. The lady that worked in the dept. just laughed and laughed. I got the biggest kick out of that. Same pattern as Jacobs.

My youngest sons afghan

This afghan was a Christmas gift for my youngest son Jacob and boy did it come down to the wire. It was so easy to get Codys done as he doesnt live at home anymore. With this one I had to lock my bedroom  door just so I could get it done. I finished at 3 a.m. Christmas morning. Nothing like cutting it close! I wasn't sure what colors to do for him as he isn't into any sports teams so I just made it in his school colors and it turned out awesome! The best part for me though is that he loves it enough to keep it on his bed. That amazes me as he is 18 yrs old, I was afraid he wouldn't like it. I wanted the boys to have something made from me, and I thoroughly enjoyed making them their afghans. I will post Codys tomorrow. The hardest part crocheting this afghan was using the huge Q hook, I had a heck of a time with holding that hook, the afghan itself was very easy. The pattern is called the Crocheted Weekend Afghan from the Lion Brand website, here is the direct link * note you may have to log in or create a free account to view, but is well worth it!  http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/1104AD.html

Heres Jacobs afghan.....

Miss Jordys afghan

This was a special afghan to make for a very lovely young lady~ who also happens to be preggers with our first grandson! When I started this afghan I had no idea why or for who, I just had this feeling I needed to start one. When we were told of the soon to be grandbabe, it hit me right then and there where this afghan was meant to be! I gave it to Jordy the day we went for the first sonogram.

I absolutely love how this one turned out, if you havent checked out red hearts varigated wildflower oh man your missing out, I have used this varigate on alot of projects I just cant get enough of it. Its just so darn pretty!!!

I just love granny afghans!!

Here is a granny square afghan I made awhile back. I  just loved how it turned out. The colors just pop right out there! Thankfully the recipient loved it! I always use red heart yarn as where we live there just arent any craft type stores, and I have to go into the next town just to go to a walmart. We are sooooo very limited down here! I keep saying one day I am just going to order a whole bunch online as walmart online has a truckload of various yarn that our store dont carry.....but that never happens, seems like life gets in the way sometimes....

Happy Crocheting!

Its been awhile only a few years lol.....

So I am going to try to update this blog with my finished projects, I have learned so much these past few years I am so greatful! My  husband and I are doing great, in fact we will become 1st time grandparents in Dec. and we are looking forward to holding our grandson for the first time. What a blessing this is for our family. Our boys are doing awesome, our oldest graduated college first one of us to do that was such an awesome moment and of course we are so very proud of his accomplishments! Our youngest just started his last year of highschool so weird to say that! Seems like we should still be loading the kids in the van and going to baseball games....I cant say where did the time go, we made the most of it the best we could. Wouldnt of had it any other way.

Ok enough of that here is my latest granny afghan, I am so very happy with the way this turned out!
