Baby blanket

This is the very first time I worked with Bernat Baby Blanket yarn, and let me tell you it is some very soft thick yarn. So much so I wasnt sure what kind of pattern to use for this blanket, because it would be hard to see the stitches. I went with a granny square. I have to admit, while making this blanket I didn't realize how much I wanted grandchildren. I made this before we knew we are going to have a grandson. This was commissioned by a dear friend of ours, was also the very first thing I ever sold!

I would love to know what other patterns this could be used with. I just dont know other then the granny or maybe a shell pattern what else I could see the stitches with.

Down for a few days

I haven't been able to post the last couple of days. I have somehow manage to mess up knee. Not sure how that happened, but I have mad skills like that. Its funny, Im supposed to stay off my feet, keep it propped up...ya that isn't gonna happen anytime soon. It hurts to bad to elevate my leg and I cant sit still long enough because of my back issues......so its a lose ~ lose type situation!

Ok enough of that~ Today I am posting a pic of the Christmas stockings I made for the kids. Granted my kids are all grown I thought they were just to neat of an idea, I had to make them! Great way to upcycle denim jeans.

The afghan I made for some friends of ours

This afghan was made for some pretty special friends of ours. Very glad that we have them in our lives. This pattern is the same as Cody and Jacobs. I really love how easy it is to put together, great project if you need something fast and pretty.

Codys Afghan

I made this one for Cody for Christmas. He is a KU fan so I chose those colors, although we are a house divided when it comes to sports teams this was a labor of love lol. When I went to walmart to buy the yarn, I had found a KU shot glass so I took it back to the yarn section with me and started holding it up next to the yarn to match the colors. The lady that worked in the dept. just laughed and laughed. I got the biggest kick out of that. Same pattern as Jacobs.

My youngest sons afghan

This afghan was a Christmas gift for my youngest son Jacob and boy did it come down to the wire. It was so easy to get Codys done as he doesnt live at home anymore. With this one I had to lock my bedroom  door just so I could get it done. I finished at 3 a.m. Christmas morning. Nothing like cutting it close! I wasn't sure what colors to do for him as he isn't into any sports teams so I just made it in his school colors and it turned out awesome! The best part for me though is that he loves it enough to keep it on his bed. That amazes me as he is 18 yrs old, I was afraid he wouldn't like it. I wanted the boys to have something made from me, and I thoroughly enjoyed making them their afghans. I will post Codys tomorrow. The hardest part crocheting this afghan was using the huge Q hook, I had a heck of a time with holding that hook, the afghan itself was very easy. The pattern is called the Crocheted Weekend Afghan from the Lion Brand website, here is the direct link * note you may have to log in or create a free account to view, but is well worth it!  http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/1104AD.html

Miss Jordys afghan

This was a special afghan to make for a very lovely young lady~ who also happens to be preggers with our first grandson! When I started this afghan I had no idea why or for who, I just had this feeling I needed to start one. When we were told of the soon to be grandbabe, it hit me right then and there where this afghan was meant to be! I gave it to Jordy the day we went for the first sonogram.

I absolutely love how this one turned out, if you havent checked out red hearts varigated wildflower oh man your missing out, I have used this varigate on alot of projects I just cant get enough of it. Its just so darn pretty!!!

I just love granny afghans!!

Here is a granny square afghan I made awhile back. I  just loved how it turned out. The colors just pop right out there! Thankfully the recipient loved it! I always use red heart yarn as where we live there just arent any craft type stores, and I have to go into the next town just to go to a walmart. We are sooooo very limited down here! I keep saying one day I am just going to order a whole bunch online as walmart online has a truckload of various yarn that our store dont carry.....but that never happens, seems like life gets in the way sometimes....

Happy Crocheting!

Its been awhile only a few years lol.....

So I am going to try to update this blog with my finished projects, I have learned so much these past few years I am so greatful! My  husband and I are doing great, in fact we will become 1st time grandparents in Dec. and we are looking forward to holding our grandson for the first time. What a blessing this is for our family. Our boys are doing awesome, our oldest graduated college first one of us to do that was such an awesome moment and of course we are so very proud of his accomplishments! Our youngest just started his last year of highschool so weird to say that! Seems like we should still be loading the kids in the van and going to baseball games....I cant say where did the time go, we made the most of it the best we could. Wouldnt of had it any other way.

Ok enough of that here is my latest granny afghan, I am so very happy with the way this turned out!
